Hi all. I am feeling a bit lost on the home decor front and I hope that some of you can inspire me and point me in the right direction.
We’ve recently moved to a country cottage. We sold a lot of our furniture to the purchaser of our last house so we don’t have a lot of stuff to match in with - which should be good - but it’s leaving me feeling a bit rudderless with where to start in the living room.
The room is essentially a 16 foot square with small cottage windows on 2 sides. It has a small black cast iron woodburner in the fireplace. It also had a neutral griege carpet which is ok for now I think.
We have a small sitting area in the kitchen which we use all the time so I think the living room a room will end up being a room we use mostly use on winter evenings with the woodburner going.
My husband favours green everywhere so we’ve just ordered a Sofology sofa - the cricket range, in green (photo attached).
I do like the sofa and think it has the modern country cottage style we like but I’m at a loss to know how to style it. It’s quite a statement green. Online and in the shop it’s styled with black and white cushions (which come with it) and a black and white rug which I do quite like but what colour on the walls??
I’m happy to go dark (I did think about a teal colour).
Any advice for complementary colours would be great.
