Kitchen on the very cheap!

Any ideas for doing up a kitchen on a very low budget? My main issues are the countertops and cupboard doors. My countertops are already covered with wood effect contact paper, which has been on around a year. It gave a great effect but is now peeling and looking crap. I've looked at a site called Quicktops, where they just fit a laminate top over the existing top, so if you've had any experience with them I'd be interested to know price range etc, as they don't say on the website. My cupboard doors aren't in a great state, they're also gloss white which is not what I would choose. I'd love shaker style but might be asking a bit much on my budget. I'm literally looking at a few hundred pounds for the lot. I've got peel and stick tiles which aren't great but will do for now. I'd love a whole new kitchen but would genuinely have to win some money to get that!

Have you tried Facebook or gumtree for a replacement? Sounds like fixing it up is just putting off the inevitable.

We bought an entire kitchen set of cupboards second-hand on eBay - could you have a look there? Better quality than 'wrapping' the cupboard doors.

Free cycle or local free stuff in FB? I saw an amazing kitchen going free locally with granite worktops and island etc!

How good is your diy? Can you offer to help take out an old kitchen on Facebook if you can keep the doors? Someone might be glad of the extra help (and extra space in the skip) lots of kitchens that are taken out are still in good condition.

Unfortunately my diy is pretty basic, and I wouldn't know where to start with removing / fitting a kitchen!

I like the idea if a cheap second hand kitchen, but how do you know it fits, measurements etc and how many cupboard doors. I'd be worried about buying it then not being able to fit it

Could you replace the doors and worktop, would make a huge difference to the look without a big expense.
