Where can I buy a curtain track like this?

I had ordered a ceiling mounted curtain track from Dunelm, but it’s gone out of stock and the next closest thing I can find is from John Lewis and is £250 more expensive. I need 3.6-4m wide.

I am completely clueless about this kind of thing and don’t want to make an expensive mistake.

I am putting curtains up on big bifolds, but with a budget of about £300 total. Bifolds are 3.2m wide and 2.2m high. I wanted them the full height of the room (2.7m) rather than from just above the door frame, and to sit to one side when open as a door curtain, rather than as window curtains sitting either side of the doors (partly because there is space to the right of the doors but not to the left).

I ordered pencil pleat curtains at 2.7m length, and will join them to make one single curtain (£160).

I had ordered this ceiling mounted track at 3.6m (£65), but it’s gone out of stock.

I now have curtains but nothing to hang them on. Help!

Can I just get that ubiquitous bendy plastic track that you can use in bay windows? Is there something else I should be googling? I can’t get just a regular curtain pole because it would have a bracket in the middle.

It depends how heavy your curtains are - these are ok but can't usually take heavy curtains.

I got some from Home of Interiors a few years ago and they are very strong and slide well. I'm getting more for another room now.

UncomfortableSofa · 24/10/2023 12:10

I got silent gliss hand drawn double ones (heavy blackout curtains plus light cotton sheers) and they slide easily.

@UncomfortableSofa I might be looking at the wrong thing, but they look to be a bit beyond my budget at £1,300 😅(but thank you)

@LonelyFlans mid-weight. Probably about 5-7kg total weight. But they will get daily use so it would still need to be something sturdy.

I need similar!

Apparently IKEA have them, not sure if they fit your dimensions so worth checking

404usernotfound · 24/10/2023 12:25

I never even thought of IKEA! Off to check.

The problem is the width. A lot of places do narrower widths. @Whataretheodds if yours are any narrower it’s worth checking out the one I posted from Dunelm. It’s only the longest length that’s out of stock.

But thank to @UncomfortableSofa i know know that it’s called a “glider pole” so that should help too.

Oh strange! I just looked and I paid £86 for a 200cm double track system. £75 for 175cm. Cut to the size I needed.

Oh, I've just seen that wall fix are a lot more expensive than ceiling. V annoying as the new ones I need are wall fix as the ceiling is super high.

Hmmmm if we build a wooden pelmet I may be able to use ceiling fix.... thinking aloud now.

Thank you all so much! This is really helpful.

Those look good @Melroses I’ve emailed them about the ones on the first link. They don’t come in a single length long enough, but I see there is a joining piece available. Just not sure if that will still work for a single curtain.

The metal elegance ones look like a good fallback position (£250 ish - so above budget but I wouldn’t have to remortgage to buy one).

@UncomfortableSofa I think I was just looking at the wrong thing. I did a search for what you said in your latest post, and it was £200ish for the length I am after, which is much more reasonable.

@Judashascomeintosomemoney that’s a great find! I have ordered that one and will report back. I am fascinated to find out how they package it at 5m long though 😅(I’m assuming I’ll be able to cut it to length)

We’ve got these Ikea ones:

You can join more than one together to get the size you need, and then cut off the end with a hacksaw to make them exactly the right length. We’ve got the double track set, with a voile and a blackout curtain.
I’m not going to lie, they were fiddly to fit and hang the curtains, but nothing a competent DIYer couldn’t do with a bit of patience- there’s lots of tutorials on YouTube. They look great, and are miles cheaper than anything similar anywhere else. When you take them out of the pack they look like they won’t be strong enough, but we’ve had ours up a couple of years now, with floor to ceiling blackout curtains and they’ve been brilliant.

The one from Next has arrived … via a specialist courier because of the length of the box 😅

I’ll add pics when nice we’ve fitted it.
