Change the cupboard doors? This is a relatively cheap way to update the look. (Keep the old cupboard fronts if landlord is precious about them).

Can you change the flooring ? It really doesn’t go.

You can get peelable tile stickers individually or as a sheet. Also DC Fix is great stuff to wrap cupboard doors in and also the worktops. Totally non permanent of course.

I put a largish plant at the end of the cupboard on the left, on the floor. If allowed, install a large hook (or 2) above the window and hang a plant there. Get a rug to cover the awful flooring.

Once you are in and your pits and pieces are around it will look much better.
Bright coloured kettle and toaster
Fill the open shelves with wine
Add a plant at the end or on a shelf.
Add some funky items - oversized pepper mill, pestle and mortar
Add some cook books
Add a rug to the floor

There’s nothing wrong with that kitchen.

Better ask the landlord first! Not everyone wants an amateur paint job on their property.
