This blind, what do you think?

Just put this blind up in the bathroom but something doesn't look right and I can't figure out what. Excuse the messy windowsill.
Is it too high?
I've tried it lower but that looks to low.
What's wrong with it!
I've been standing looking at it too long now so lost perspective.
Any ideas?

Personally, I would have had it fitted as an inset blind for a bathroom.

Then you can use cill when it's down.

I think it looks fine OP

"Can't use"

Sorry typo

fatbottomgirl67 · 10/10/2023 15:44

The bottom pleat should tuck up higher not hang that low.

sarahh96 · 10/10/2023 15:46

Thank you. I'll leave it then. There are so many holes in the wall, where I've put it higher/lower I'm surprised there's any wall left! Maybe it looks wrong to me as I'm not used to seeing it.
There is another sheer blind hidden behind that we use at night, this was more for decoration purpose.

@fatbottomgirl67 that's what I thought but that's fully retracted. I can't get it any higher. I suppose I could pin it?

It’s a nice blind (and I hope you have a very strong extractor fan with fabric in a steamy room!). I think it’s too low down from the ceiling. You want to leave a couple of inches from the ceiling. Is it long enough for that? It’s also a little too narrow but nothing you can do about that now, and anyway the shower curtain is in the way.

Hang it a little higher and I think you’ll be fine.

AnSolas · 10/10/2023 15:50

It looks out of balance
The big top pleat
Then the small middle pleats
Then the large bottom pleat

To me this looks unbalanced.
If the bottom pleat should tuck up under the other middle ones

Celibacyinthesticks · 10/10/2023 15:50

It will look better if you remove the clutter from the window ledge and just have a nice plant, also as you have a sheer blind pull it down to cover the top half of the window and lower the Roman blind slightly, I think what is throwing you off is the window itself as it’s not particularly attractive and that’s what you notice rather than the window treatment.

Readingundertheoaktree · 10/10/2023 15:50

Mmm,I also think it's too narrow, the proportions look wrong. It might look better if you shortened the bottom section, that will help I think.

sarahh96 · 10/10/2023 16:02

@Celibacyinthesticks you're right! I hate the window, ugly, as you say. It's a WIP, I have green accessories coming, plants etc. I also think I need to pin up the bottom layer.
I hate the whole bathroom but haven't got the £ to remodel. Thought sprucing it up might make it look better. I usually end up getting it wrong though, looks like I've done it again. 😢

You haven’t got it wrong at all OP, it just needs a few tweaks around the edges and it will look lovely!

MrsKypp · 10/10/2023 16:33

Comparing it to the blinds I'm looking at in my room here, as others have said, the lower pleat is hanging much lower on yours. But I really like it, it wouldn't bother me at all.

We've got Venetian blinds in our bathroom and are thinking about getting a Roman blind like yours. They're much cosier.

Bettyboopsbonnet · 10/10/2023 16:35

Personally I can't see a problem.

The ferns are the right way up and it's symmetrical.

Relax OP.

AudiobookListener · 10/10/2023 18:05

I think it looks lovely.

sarahh96 · 10/10/2023 18:07

Thank you my design gurus. Knew you'd figure it out for me. I've pinned the bottom pleat up a bit, it looks better now. Won't bother with another picture to show you, even I'm getting bored with it now 😆

Let's have a look at the whole bathroom - we may have some ideas.
