Washi tape wall

I posted last month about a wall mural and asming for your help.....straight to the point I'm not confident enough but also can't justify spending hundreds on something that I can't find a design I really like.

Watching Sort Your Life Out and Stacey created a geometric wall design using washi tape that I thought looked simple but effective. Has anyone done this themselves? It would be in my kitchen. I've never used washi tape before, to me it looks like scotch tape but it's not very sticky is it? How does it not fall off the wall?!

You’d have to have to seal it afterwards and possibly prep the wall in a specific way.
You tube would be your friend for this is expect. Not sure it would be as cheap as you might think.

Thank you!
It needs new lining paper going on anyway and was then going to paint it. Wanting a statement wall but without statement faff 😂

You could order online a mural made of wallpaper. They can be made to measure to the size of the wall.

Google - Wallpaper murals made to measure.

Doing it yourself, using tape and paint is the faffiest thing I can think of! Geometric will require to to have carefully measured and worked out where to place the lines. Then apply the tape, making sure it’s exactly straight and flat. Sealing it all.
Wall paper would be about 17 times easier in my opinion.

I watched that episode and the wall did look good but I bet it will be peeling within a couple of weeks! You can get some pretty nice geometric wall paper if that's the style you're looking for. Try B&M.

I would be worried about fire safety, particularly in a kitchen. I have no idea if that’s a well-founded concern or not but I would have thought paint and wallpaper are created with some consideration to fire safety and that washi tape is not.

I hadn't even thought of the fire safety! Thank you so much!

I have no idea on the regulations for actual wallpaper and paint and it could be that ordinary commercial stuff is not any safer, but it’s something I would be researching before covering my walls in tape.
