Which colour carpet with Dulux Timeless walls?

Hi everyone,

We are currently in the process of decorating our 10 year old new build house.

We prefer neutral so have painted all the walls in dulux timeless.

The next step is carpets but we are not sure which colour to go for? I dont want any greys but I need it to be a light neutral colour because some of our rooms are on the smaller side.

I'm not sure what will look good with our walls plus we are likely to be selling the house in the next few years so it's got to be a colour which won't date too much.

It is a myth that small rooms need light colours. And if you are planning to sell, bear in mind that light carpets show stains.

We went Greige with Timeless, it's a warm silvery grey.

I think that you don’t want grey or even griege. Head to where the market is headed, back to beige! I’d pick a beige with a greenish undertone, it is the most versatile. Avoid beige with a pink undertone at all costs. It doesn’t play nicely with other colours.
An 80/20 wool twist will last for decades. So you want something “boring.” Good news is that Dulux Timeless is a light beige with a green undertone, so I think you are headed in a both on trend, and flexible direction.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've now narrowed it down to these two colours, which will look best?

I have 3 kids aged 7-14 so it needs to be good at hiding dirt.

Top one is kinda flat / boring.

Can you take a picture of the samples against your freshly painted walls?

We have similar to No 2 in our landing with Dulux Timeless.

Thanks for the suggestions and pic. The second one does look a lot better next to the walls. It warms up the stark white of the paint.

I'm following because we're replacing our carpets too. Previous owner painted and carpeted everything in grey.

It's awful, looks tired. And I've just finished painting over the last grey wall 🥳 but what colour carpets? That's the question!

I want natural wood floors but can't afford those

The bottom one looks like it has warmer tones which would go with timeless that bit better. I prefer a carpet that leans a bit more beige to those though.
