I got quite excited at the beginning of summer over finally replacing the embarrassingly old and knackered sofas we've had over 20 years. I liked the Joules Patterdale ones in velvet from DFS but all the family rained on my parade a bit. DH is having a hip op in a couple of weeks so nothing's hugely comfy to him and he is not really bothered. I have adhd and decision making is awful for me!

No kids at home (no, 4 is at university), no grandchildren on the horizon. I've sat on loads and loads. So many are so deep and hard to sit on without waving my legs in the air, and I'm tall!

If you've bought a sofa you're really happy with the comfort of - comfy arms, cushions that are still plump after a good while, not silly prices - please let me know where you bought them! Thank you!

We must have sat in hundreds of sofas in our quest to find find a comfortable sofa. There are plenty of sites online which tell you how comfy their sofas are (most likely not) but unless you sit in them you can never tell.

In the end we went for one from Next called the Erin. It’s quite deep but very comfy - we’ve not had it long so I can’t tell you how well it’s going last.

There was also a really comfy sofa in M&S that we liked - we preferred the fabric on that but not the price.

The most fabulous, sofas we sat on were in Loaf but I’m afraid we’d need a lottery win to afford one of those.
