Are the PAX wardrobes particularly crap?

Malm beds, what is the difference between the slats (apart from 50GBP)

Mattresses? Any thoughts.

ikea matresses often come up with good reviews on test sites.
they are fine and do the job.
the bed frames are good to but make sure you carefully assemble it.

pax is great. it's very similar to what the national custom wardrobe people use. again absolutely fine if you assemble carefully.

Thank you, I must admit we have always been make do and mend but we've just moved to a house with a very odd sized room and PAX has the sizes we need.

Neiden beds just recently bought and they were easy to assemble, slats also perfectly fine. Have been really impressed with the beds as I wasn't convinced that they would be up to much but so far so good.

£85 per bed including slats. Great price tbh.

I freaking love our PAX wardrobes. They’re sturdy, look good, I’ve got it all set up inside in a way that suits me.

We’ve also got an IKEA mattress (Hovag maybe? Not the cheapest one but not the most expensive) and I really rate it. We’ve had it 4-5 years and it still feels good as new.

pax is modular. I think they offer different backs depending if you use it free standing or not.

Ours is solid at the back. Can’t remember if there was a choice in that but it’s the same as the top and sides (MDF or whatever).

The more expensive slats are sturdier and more springy so feel comfier (to me anyway). The basic slats are fine and will do the job but may need adjusting/repositioning more often. Based on my experience of beds with both types of slats.

The Pax system has a 10 year warranty so if the hinges fail or a rail breaks you can simply take the broken part and the receipt into store and they replace it free.
I designed the Pax to do exactly what I needed it to do. Loads of storage drawers and baskets and it has enabled me to be organised for the first time in my bedroom.

I bought Pax wardrobes about 4 years ago and they had the flimsy cardboard back. Can't fault them for the price though and I loved planning it all out on the computer.

Don't go for a Malm bed, I was constantly banging my shins on the base as it sticks out...

Ugh. Right I'm messaging IKEA, I can get crappy backed wardrobes in Argos for half price!

AnOldCynic is right about the corners of Malm bed frames, but I make sure to pull the quilt covers over them to protect my shins after a few bruises. I like the Malm bed though, and there is lots of matching furniture in the range.

Don't get a memory foam mattress, I ordered one to replace our old one and it was awful. IKEA do an excellent exchange policy on mattresses though so I had it replaced with a pocket sprung one which is really comfy.

we have a quite simple foam matresses (dh the concrete hard and me a bit softer) on our super king bed and the 10cm memory foam topper.
better than any fancy pocket sprung or combi matress we have tried before.
