Making rugs out of carpet offcuts - easy? Worth it?

We had a new carpet fitted and we have several 1 metre plus lengths left over and I was wondering how easy it is to make them into rugs.

We have put them down on the floor as is but they are starting to fray at the edges.

Doing a google I think the easiest way is to buy carpet tape and just stick it to the bottom - or is there a better way of doing it? Is it worth it or should we discount the idea?

Ask the shop where you bought the carpet to do it, that's what I used to do.

You need to get the edges whipped. If you google it, a lot of carpet shops will do it or find someone with a machine that does it in their garage from home.

Ask the shop that you got the carpet from, they can edge them, I’ve had it done before.

Same as other posters, they usually charge by the metre.

You can use them to make smaller mats/runners. I had one made that is the size of a large doormat at the bottom of the stairs. Less of a shock to the soles of the feet going from carpet straight onto floorboards.
