Marker pen and felt tip marks bleeding through paint

Hi everyone.

I painted my living room walls yesterday (1st time in 10 years!). I painted using Dulux trade timeless and its given me a lovely finish.

My only issue is that there are some bits of wall where my DC had scribbled on with markers and felt tips when they were small, but the paint doesn't seem to be covering these areas and the ink keeps bleeding through. I applied several coats yo these areas but it made no difference.

This morning I went to B&Q and was advised to buy some Zinsser BIN shellac based primer in a red can. I sprayed this on as per the instructions on the can and then painted over it but I can still see faint ink marks underneath.

What can I do now? Should I apply another coat of primer or do something else? Please bare in mind that the rest of my walls are all immaculately painted so don't want to damage those.

Thanks.

Urg, you already used Zinsser. That's the big gun. Give it 1, or 2 more top coats (it takes easily 3 top voats). If that doesn't help, I can only think of 3 options: 1) skim over the affected wall 2) Put a picture/piece of furniture in front of it 3) Get an accent wall (not usually a fan of personally) and wallpaper over or use a dark paint (darker paints usually have better coverage than white).

I had the same problem when I moved into my house. I ended up scraping out the writing and then filling and sanding.
