Dunelm Sofas

Has anyone purchased a sofa from them recently? I always assumed they'd be flimsy and poor quality but tried one in store and it felt pretty good. Prices are great and they had a style I love. Just a bit wary having had a crap sofa for the past few years, but equally don't have £3k to spend!

I bought one as a stop gap a while back because I didn’t want to spend loads before the room was decorated (was having extension done) but the old one was beyond repair.
It looked good. The quality was appalling. It was a velvet sofa with legs at the back and wheeled legs at the front. One of the front legs snapped off after about eight weeks. Then the other one started to go. They were good at sending out someone to repair it though. A local upholsterer came out, excellent workmanship, he said they were really badly and cheaply made. The section of the frame that the leg went in to wasn’t wood, it was chipboard, which had crumbled away. No way to repair it without replacing the whole frame. They were quick to give me my money back though. Spent it on a cheap one from DFS for the interim. Much better quality.

I would say it is obvious the quality is not up to scratch. In my mind, Dunelm’s furniture is wonderful if you want to make a room, that nobody uses, pretty. If you plan to use the furniture regularly, invest in something that was built for that.

They cost less but are more expensive in the long run because you need to replace them so quickly.
