What colour furniture goes with charcoal sofas?

Hi everyone,

I'm in need of some advice please.

In my living room I have a large charcoal corner sofa. The walls are off white and I've just recently had a beige/cream carpet put down.

I want to get a sideboard to place my TV on but not sure which colour will go?

I'm assuming white furniture is a no? I also don't want black.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You can pretty much put any colour in a room like that

Orange and grey looks great ...So my vote is for orange

I should have mentioned hat I do not want any bright or bold colours. I would rather have something in a more natural wood finish- not sure if I should go for light or dark wood?

I would go for a dark oak to balance your dark coloured sofa against the pale walls and carpet.

Your style so far is relatively modern. A lightly limewashed oak TV table would reflect that and blend in well with the off white/beige, but will still let you see through the naturally darkish oak underneath.

Does the sofa have wooden legs? Furniture could match those if so.
Otherwise, any shade of wood would go, just depends in the lighting of your room and whether you want a darker, cosy feel or lighter and airy 😊

It's a fairly large room so I do want it to look cosy as it's our main living space. I've got my heart set on this one.

Does it look too dark?

What about teak? We have a gorgeous mid-century modern sideboard (look out for g-plan, or ercol) I bought off ebay which goes really well with our grey sofas.

That's a sideboard rather than a TV unit. I know you said you wanted a sideboard but I wonder if it is a bit too high for comfortable TV watching. I have no idea how people watch TVs on the wall above a fireplace. They must get a sore neck. If you are certain you want a sideboard then that one is nice enough. I think it would go well with your colour scheme. I do think you could get a nicer one for that price though.

Also if you buy a sideboard where does your sky box/DVD player/sound go? I know you may not have any of these things so ignore if you don't!

I think @boobashka ’s Tikkamoon suggestion is by far the best, but I agree with a pp that you absolutely need to think about height if you’re putting your tv on it.
