Red telephone box - Can you buy it somewhere ?

Hi- friends from abroad are setting up a business and as decoration they would like to put in a traditional red telephone box. Can you even buy one that is not in use? I trust they may have protected status, especially in London. Are removed, old ones sold anywhere? If not, anyone would know any company that manufactures something similar, a sort of imitation of traditional red kiosk?

Architectural salvage companies have them in stock often. I have even seen them pop up on Gumtree. I briefly contemplated one for the garden before DH vetoed it. It was about £4K.

X2connect? I think they refurbish them - might be worth contacting them. A friend had a similar idea for their home bar so I remember this company was one they looked at! It wasn't cheap though and I think the delivery restrictions (clearance around the vehicle) was an issue for them.

You can buy them on eBay, cost about £2k though and most don’t look to be in great condition.

There’s a great Facebook group called ‘set swap cycle’ - its full of props people, film and theatre people, shop dressers, interior designers etc passing around things like this that they get hold of for one film shoot and then no longer need. Most things are listed free or a low price, have a look or put a request on there, they are such a common set piece I wouldn’t be surprised if someone had one in storage they’d be glad to get rid of!
