Just about to embark on this mammoth task. Quick drying and low odour please? Is French Chic a bad idea?

I've found it excellent, it's also self levelling. Used both indoors and outdoors.

Also are you painting the spindles as well, lots of people use a sock instead of a brush but I haven't tried it myself as yet.

Not spindles, they are just straight ,I've seen socks used, looks much easier.
