What colour sofas with soft grey green walls

Redecorating with Dulux Garden Grey paint. It is a soft, pale green/grey tone. Hoping for calm, relaxing mood. Any suggestions for sofa colours? I am considering a dark olive green or medium/dark grey. Would those choices be a bit dull?
I am not very imaginative when it comes to colours, so if anybody has a similar colour scheme, I would love some suggestions.
Doors and mantlepiece are stripped pine and skirting boards and ceiling white. All the doors in the house are old stripped pine, so I don't really want to paint them. I waxed them when we moved in. Dithering whether to paint the mantlepiece which is newish pine, quite a nice colour similar to doors, (not orange).
Victorian terraced house, narrow room but high ceiling.
Bay window, gets the sun most of the day.
Inherited PIL's large rug for wooden floor. It has the same pale grey/green but also russet, deep navy pattern.
All advice gratefully received.
TIA

Pinks or rusts would work well, or a neutral sofa with pink or rust accent cushions etc

Would pick up the russet in the rug

Was going to say deep pink but that might not go with he russet. If the rug is a must, I would go with navy.

Thank you. It is a very dark, almost black navy.
Most of what we have is inherited and we can't justify buying new, just the seating atm. So the rug will have to do for now. I matched the walls to the pale green in the rug. The walls are currently red, which is a bit loud for me.

The rug came from Iran, manufactured in the late 70s, so will definitely be keeping it. It is still in good condition.

Neutral/dull is better when it comes to sofas, because you can zhuzh them up with cushions etc. I bought a floral pattern sofa 10yrs ago. Hate it and whole room has to be worked around it's color.

Yes. I don't fancy patterned sofa. I thought I would look for cushion covers once everything else is done.
Late MIL will haunt me if I ditch her lovely rug. She brought it with her when they left Tehran just before the revolution.

I would have a navy sofa.

A natural linen colour would be nice (on the darker end ideally for practicality)

Or brown or olive velvet.

The rug sounds beautiful, could you photograph a small section showing the colours?

JammyDodgeMe · 02/08/2023 18:31

I have a similar sounding colour walls. I have two sofas in my living room, both velvet. One black, one blush pink. I don't have a photo of the black one, but here's the pink after living room was newly redecorated, so still looks a bit sparse.

Dark grey, dusky colours or neutral tones go well in my opinion.
