Green Velvet Curtains - why are they so hard to get?

So, my partner and I have a terraced house with a bay window. We’ve been trying to find a pair of green velvet-style curtains but no where seems to do them. We had a pair from La Rodoute delivered but they were two pairs sewn together. We sent them back. Some people saying this is normal and some saying this isn’t normal. The join not the sending back. Now we can’t get them because they’ve stopped making them 🙄

Is there anywhere that produces large curtain sizes without having to pay someone to make bespoke curtains? Or if we have to go the bespoke route, how much do they cost?

The join is because fabric generally only comes in a width of approx 140cm…wherever you get them, they’ll have a join

As @Heyhoherewegoagain says most fabric is 140cm wide.

However, you can buy extra wide/double width fabric although the choice will be somewhat limited.

For example, a quick google search shows that Tinsmiths have a few extra wide fabric options including Marcle Forest Green chenille at 310cm wide retailing for £38 per metre.

I recently sold some fabulous, huge bespoke GP & J Baker green damask velvet curtains where two standard widths of fabric had been joined by the maker. The fabric originally retailed at £190 per metre. I sold two pairs second hand for just £225! So, if you're happy to consider preloved/vintage, there are some amazing bargains to be had on the likes of eBay/marketplace etc.....

Or buy extra with fabric and have someone make them, we use a local lady who's so reasonable

Ask Scarlett O'Hara. She'll know.
