Hello!

I have a difficult to style set of shelves. They act as a room divider and can be seen from both sides. I've added baskets to help with the room division and that's worked really well, but I'm stuck with what to put on the top shelf that will look OK from all angles? They're about 1m wide and 35cm deep (not sure about height but basically halfway between the floor and the light switch) and are in the living room, which is accessed from the porch (hence wanting a divider). Hope this makes sense! Thank you.

An arty vase or set of pots?

Books that will fill the height of the space, arranged in order of colour or size or objects that are big enough to fill the space on their own or possibly sit on top of a couple of books placed horizontally.

Books but stacked flat, you could do a pile of 3 or so (hardbacks)?

pictures or art in frames - have some facing each direction of sight?

fake flowers/fake trailing plants. Or real ones even!

Candles?
Decorative vases?

That's all I've got😂

Real plants….no plastic and books

Plants, alternated with books. Pick the books carefully though- nice hardbacks in assorted sizes will look better than a row of paperbacks. Maybe a lamp or two- especially on the bottom layer. Any kind of sculptural ornaments you have that will create a strong silhouette when you look through. I think the key is not to put too much on it, though- leave some space as well. And don’t let your partner fuck it up by tidying random ugly stuff onto it.
