Buying new bed - silly question

if I cant afford both a new bed and mattress at the same time, is it feasible to use the older smaller double mattress on the new king size frame - until I can afford to get a new mattress?

I would like to know this as well - it’s something I’ve wondered about. I can imaging it could be quite difficult to climb over the edge of the frame each morning (and the slats could be at risk.

I am also considering getting a cheap bed frame and good mattress.

well you could, but it would look very odd - why don’t you wait till you can afford both
