We've not long moved in to the house, this room is next on the list to decorate, but we can't decide what colours to go for.

Sofa is brand new and we have ordered some light grey cafe style shutters for the windows,

The floor will remain as it is (cleaned up) as will the fireplace.

I'm not sure whether to repaint an off-white or to add a bit of colour.
We hope to get a fitted cabinet in small alcove, again not sure what style/wood type.

The room is fairly small so would like it cosy but not too dark.

This will be the grown up room despite the little one in the picture watching BlueySmile

I am totally clueless!

Slaked lime on the walls and a rug.

I’d go for Farrow and Ball India Yellow. That would go with your sofa or Sulking Room pink.

I think possibly pale lemon? It would keep it bright. You might be able to find a roll of wallpaper for the fireplace wall in the same colour as the sofa.

Pale yellow
I like colour but not overpowering

With the bay window , picture rail, fireplace, wooden floor and high ceilings you can get away with a bold colour and not a boring off white or pastel.

Navy

I would go with a nice pale grey shade. I would also paint the fireplace wood a really deep dark teal and look for some cushions/artwork to tie it all in.

I'd use a brighter white for the frieze and ceiling as that will work well with the teal sofa. A delicate pink on the walls? I think I'd paint the wooden fire surround too as it doesn't match the floorboards.

fancreek · 23/07/2023 17:07

I'd god with a sandstone colour and stain the fireplace so it's the right tone for the other woods in the room

Id probably go for teal . Or a very pale pink as PP have suggested ( as long as you avoid the Barbie look ).

Little greene Clay mid or Clay pale
Or F&B Joa's white
Paint the fireplace surround white or black

Unusual options - navy, purple brown or chartreuse

Love that amazing wallpaper. Otherwise, I think teal paint.

Pineapplemonkey · 24/07/2023 16:06

I have this colour sofa (mine is possibly slightly more teal in real life) and I went for Light Peachblossom (Little Greene) on the walls.

Have tried to get photos but it just comes out as taupe, again, in reality it's a lovely shade of pink with grey undertones

It looks like a lovely shaped room, I think you can lots with it!
I’m a sucker for pale pink with teal, but I wouldn’t do all the walls. I also think brilliant white or a warm white works well, you can play around with lots of plants and printed soft furnishings etc.

If you fancy a soft neutral colour Dulux Gentle Fawn is surprisingly beautiful. My daughter has used it in her kitchen which has porcelain cabinet doors and bright colourful accents, it’s so warm and gorgeous. I’m always one for bright accent walls but may use this when we re model the kitchen next year, I'm impressed with it, which has really surprised me.
