Shutters in round bay windows

Does anyone have any advice please?

We have fairly large 5 window bays and high ceilings.. I've always had made to measure curtains or bought from restricted choice ready made. I'm thinking about shutters because I want a minimal look

Do they look ok?
Do they insulate as well as heavy curtains? The windows are fine but big so need winter warmth.

Any advice would be so lovely

Look lovely IMO, but no they don’t insulate as well as thick curtains.

I had these in a previous house and found that if you pay for solid wood, they were pretty good at insulation though not as good as my double fleece heavy duty curtains in the bedroom.
I loved them and they were so easy to maintain!

Thank you both for answering. I'm really tempted but am just a little worried about the heat loss. Our windows are big.

If you already have the curtains/rail there’s no reason why you couldn’t have both. Appreciate that may not be the minimal look you want though

Shutters definitely help with heat loss just not as much as thick curtains IME
