Corner sofas - where do you put drinks?

What do people do with their drinks when sitting on a corner sofa? DH and I are considering getting one and can’t agree whether we should have a console table / shelf running behind the sofa or just have a coffee table and commit to getting up loads. 😂 what are your thoughts?

We have a small table at each end and the window sill runs behind the longest side so people can use that. Usually it's just me and DH though so we have a table each. I suppose a coffee table in front would work well.

We have a shelf behind one side, and a small table at the end of the other side. Also a coffee table in the middle, but it's hardly ever used.

We have end tables at each end and a coffee table in front that we just pull closer to the sofa when necessary. We also have a set of small tables that we sometimes use instead if we have company as they're easier to manoeuvre around if people need to get up for any reason.

I’m desperately looking for a tall enough side table to go behind our corner sofa as it’s not against the wall for a shelf etc and DH is tired of passing my drink back and forth to the coffee table

Our corner sofa has one bit in our baty window so we just use the window sill then we have a small side table at the end of the other " branch". We also have a very large coffee table in front of the sofa but we tend to just put our feet on that!

@TeleTropes would a console table work behind your sofa?

Yes, but it needs to be 1m tall to be useable over the back of the sofa and I’m yet to find one I like!

I sit mine on the floor in the corner bit and it gets spilled 1000000 times a week😂

Try installing a series of narrow floating shelves at the right height if you can't find a console tall enough. Or have a long enough one made and installed by a Joiner?

I have a coffee table and it brings the room together nice but if I had the room I would prefer a behind the sofa table as they are thin and look nicer

I've used upside down picture ledges all the way round my sofa.. the wall behind it has got a little grubby though 🙄

We have a couple of tables like this. Though ours aren't from ikea and are glass and chrome. They live at each end of the sofa but we move them as necessary.

This coffee table near is good too. Can live in the middle and then you can pull the little tables out as necessary.

We dont have a corner sofa at home but have stayed at so many holiday lets (home and abroad) with corner sofas and I hate them with a passion

It usually results in people putting a coffee table in front of them, which not only causes a lot of clutter, means theres no space for a poofe but its uncomfortable to keep leaning forward to get to your drinks and nibbles

We have 5 side tables in this room (just had to count) so that each seat has its own ability to get a drink from arm height.

Im one of those expert loafers that you see on the telly ads.

We built a
Radiator cover which extends round the whole of the sofa. It's a bit annoying as takes a fair amount of room but means we only have the pouffe and no table.
Now my kids are slightly older I may get
Rid of it and put a tray on the pouffe

Bamboo foldable thing from Amazon that goes on top of armrest or on the sofa itself. Light and can be tidied away in an instant.
