I have a long low unit like this, and I'm struggling to style it, my tvs on the wall, I have a round tray with a plant and candle on one end, but feel it needs more, anyone got similar.

I’d browse home accessories on Next with an open mind. Something might jump out at you, vase, tea light holder, photo frame to fit in with your colour scheme or colourful/ clear bottles with bottle lights inside? Maybe that’s an idea for winter/ Christmas time.

I think I need something on the shelf, but no idea what

I used to have HOME ( Next) on our shelf ceramic each one a mini vase. Now just a small dog ornament.
At the caravan I have RELAX but the dogs frequently knock that over when fighting 😬

Oh that's an idea, I'll have a look at some Pinterest images.

If you have space for a TV unit, can your TV not go on it? Or if you like the TV on the wall, lose the low unit and replace with a chunky shelf with a couple of accessories.

The unit actually looks nice in the room, but it feels like there should be something on the shelf.

I'm a book person so I'd be laying some favourite coffee table type books on that lower shelf, stacked two or three high. For example on our actual coffee table we have large hardback books on art, architecture and inspirational gardens as they are subjects that interest us.

@Imtoooldforallthis I have a not dissimilar unit.
On my lower shelves I have my TV box, a large glass ornamental piece of art, coffee-table type books.
On the upper shelf a mix of photo frames, candles and a few personal nick-nacks.
