Reorganising kitchen, ideas please

Give a bit more spec on what you want. If you want more kitchen space, what are you prepared to lose?

@parietal we have next to no workspace, insufficient storage space, those are the major issues. To save money, we're willing to lose some of the space in the dining area and putting the fridge/freezer there. That will make room for oven/microwave to be mounted. Also at the end of the L shaped kitchen beside the dining, we were thinking of a smallish peninsula to give a workspace to get something like this (see attached).
Or we are considering knocking through the L shape and having a bigger kitchen but we'd rather not if there's another option.

Would you be willing to give up the sofa space by the back door? If you put comfy bench seating (with storage) up against the wall there I think you could fit a table with chairs on the other side and still walk through.

Then you could put the tall cupboards and fridge freezer in the dining end so the rest of the kitchen could be low level with more workspace. In the tall section, you could fit a corner larder cupboard. The attached pic is from DIY kitchens but when we were planning our architect suggested stud walls, built in shelving and a standard door would be a little cheaper with the tall kitchen cupboards either side. Our project is on hold as we decided to move instead but he showed us some photos from his old house and the amount you could store was amazing.

If it's still not enough counter space, you could install a small pull-out countertop where you were looking to add the peninsula or add a small island on wheels.

I have no idea why it zoomed in so much on the floor plan 🙈
