Show me your quartz worktops

We think a light quartz worktop is the right choice for our new kitchen. Cabinets are shaker style in a light aqua/grey, and the house is old with lots of dark wood beams.

I'm really stuck in choosing a colour worktop though! I like the idea of marbling to hide crumbs and marks, but reading the other kitchen thread some posters think it’s looking dated. Was looking at Calacatta Gold?

Would love to hear your thoughts and experience wise mumsnetters… Am keen to achieve something which feels current but will not date.

It's a Caesarstone one

JunipeJuniper · 08/07/2023 09:37

Ours is so hard to clean! Holds onto stains. I don't understand why - not what I expected at all.

Eloweeese · 08/07/2023 12:06

I've got calcatta gold too. It's lovely

pookypup · 08/07/2023 18:54

Thank you @Crazymadchickenlady and @Eloweeese they are both beautiful. It’s helpful to see them in a larger scale. I’m trying to imagine what the little sample would be like! The Calacatta Gold looks gorgeous in your kitchen.

@JunipeJuniper thats a shame - I hear really mixed things. Do you remember what make you have? I wonder if some brands are better than other with stains.

Do you have any photos of it please? We are due to have calacatta gold fitted when our new kitchen goes in on the 22nd, and I'm wondering what colour sink and taps to have (my cabinets are a shell/bone type colour and they have brushed brass hardware) and also what colour flooring and paint on the walls to have. I want to keep everything quite neutral, bright and airy without it being plain and dull. I also need to think about fabric for the roman blinds. x

Yes still love it 3.5 years in. Looks new.

stealthbanana · 06/05/2024 06:59

OP just as an alernative - we have something called Dekton Tundra which looks similar to calacatta gold (we have that on our shower walls!) but is absolutely unassailable / unbreakable. Nothing stains, you can put boiling hot pots straight down on it etc.

This is Roma Grey fitted by a company called Inova Stones. It was a very competitive price.

GreatGateauxsby · 06/05/2024 09:55

Soapy water and window cleaner 🤷🏻‍♀️

We got ours from a local company in Hertfordshire. Marble group or marble centre?
