Current colour trends and a spare bedroom

I have a spare bedroom to decorate. This room has a double bed and a set of drawers.

periodic inhabitants include DSS (late 20s) and my granddaughter (3). The room will store my granddaughters toys and spare clothes but I’ll get a toy box so stuff will be “hidden”.

How would you decorate it? I don’t want to go for white as it’s boring … but I do want it bright.

What are the current colour trends that would work here?

Do you really want trends? Well, colour drenching is one, in matt, so you paint everything, walls, ceiling, skirting, door, window frame, the same, ultra matt colour. There is a craze for greens at the moment. Other trends are wallpaper, especially wallpaper everywhere or wallpaper on ceilings. That is actually a fun trend for a guest room. All-age, all-gender fun for kids and young adults could be stripes on the ceiling, or a cloud wall paper.

Grab a couple of home magazines and pick something you like. The key items are the we window dressing and the walls. Paint colours are infinite so it's easier to choose fabric first
