Carpet colour greek theme

I'm decorating my bedroom and trying to create a greek sort of vibe. It's a Victorian property with original shutters which will be painted periwinkle blue, walls will be a pale terracotta but what colour carpet. I should probably have a wood or hard floor but sadly I'm not in the Mediterranean but the UK so want carpet for the winter.

How about something like printed cork in a Mediterranean tile pattern? It would be warmer underfoot than wood or other hard flooring.
