King size Duvet inside a Super King duvet cover?

I got this particular duvet set I really wanted, it wasn’t available anywhere else to buy, they only had the Super king size left, how daft it will be if I put it on king size duvet?
I checked the dimensions, the width is same but the length is about 30 cm longer.
Anyone has it like that and it’s ok? ( 220x260cm vs 220x230cm)
I don’t want to open the box as I won’t be able to put it back neatly..

It will be daft. Having extra material in a duvet cover is really uncomfortable and annoying!

Can you sew? If the width is right, you just need to mark off approx 25cm along the top edge, sew it and cut off excess.

I personally can't stand it. We have king size summer weight and super king winter weight. DH always mixes up the duvet covers and it's very noticeable. Drives me mad.

If you love it that much, buy a super king duvet to go in it

You end up with lots of flappy fabric unfortunately

Brunonono · 15/06/2023 22:07

I really irrationally hate it when our duvet slips down inside the (right sized) cover and even if there's only an inch of extra fabric near my face it really bothers me. So I couldn't / wouldn't do it!

GiantKitten · 15/06/2023 22:08

I have 2 proper size covers which are actually too big 🙄 and they are infuriating - duvet bunches up one side with an enlarging flap of fabric the other side.
So no, don’t!

The length should be the same, it’s the width that will be different (a super king mattress is the same length as a king mattress, but wider).
You could sew up and trim off the excess from one side? Or see if your local tailor will do it (dry cleaners often do hemming etc and this isn’t really any more complex than that, it’s just awkward because of the large amount of fabric).

Thanks everyone. I think I will send it back.
Originally I thought it is actually double as that what it said in description, however on my order details it said Super king.
I was hoping it would be Double as I had double on King before and it worked well, a bit snug but ok.
However they sent me Superking…and with the Superking I’m not sure as I never had it before.
can’t buy Superking duvet as have all my sets in kingsize.
oh well..

Buy a super king duvet? I always size up on beds anyway I find it works really well.

I thought I would update.
I kept the duvet set in the end as I couldn’t get it anywhere else in Kingsize.
Its absolutely ok, no much excessive material, little bit spare on sides but not a huge deal, the quilt inside sits ok, not rolling or falling into one side.
