White or cream blinds for minimalist sunny living room?

I have a small flat with a very sunny living room. Walls are textured white wallpaper, a very standard white. Because it's small I've tried to maximise space with a round table and glossy white cupboards. Floors are warm wood. Need to get blinds urgently. Would pure white or more like cream/off white look better? Any advice appreciated.

I would go with a neutral rather than white, ideally something with a bit of texture like a linen look rather than totally plain. Semi sheer linen rollers could look lovely. Pure white blinds can look a bit basic IMHO and will also show up any dust very quickly and end up looking slightly grey.

I love dark wood with white personally and would hate the suggestion of neutral / natural coloured blinds.
Would white shutters be an option ?
I know they are expensive though.
Also Luxaflex ( and other brands also I'm sure ) do a pull up rather than a pull/ roll down blind which allows light in while also having privacy.

Yes if the floors are dark wood I wouldn’t do natural linen blinds. I was picturing a light wood.

What colour are the floors?

Thanks very much for your replies. Floors are a warm honeyish oak. I think the blinds have to be light because it's such a small living room/kitchen in one extended room. I have slightly textured 1920s style white painted wallpaper and glossy very light cream cupboards, warm wooden round table with light beige wicker chairs with fluffy white sheepskin seat mats, so everything is quite Nordic, light and airy.

That is the windows which need new blinds, and the other pic is the same room looking the other way from the table.

What about bamboo rollers or wooden venetian blinds? Or white wood venetian blinds (the ones with the tapes are nicest IMO)?

minipie · 13/06/2023 23:37

Ah cross posted. Not bamboo blinds, wouldn’t go with your modern look. But the venetians would, cheaper alternative to shutters but a similar look.

I am just really wary of adding colour on the blinds, would rather have colour in the carpet/furniture. But maybe wrong. I agonise so much over these issues as I am newly divorced and haven't lived alone for 20 years and have never chosen stuff alone, it is quite weird. The living room faces east and is bloody hot and sunny in summer in the mornings, and conversely very un insulated in winter.

Oh I used to have those chairs. I love them. Where did you get them from?

choixduroi · 14/06/2023 06:33

Haupstadtmöblerei in Berlin (I live in Germany). They are a knock off of the original Bauhaus ones which cost f'ing loads.

thanks minipie - when you say Venetian blinds do you mean you flip them with a cord and they are in horizontal sections? I am very ignorant of these issues. I was thinking of getting kind of 'waffle' blinds because the insulation is zero and it's absolutely freezing in winter and boiling in summer. this kind of thing:

Yes the ones with horizontal slats which you pull up and down with a cord.

The honeycomb blinds will help with insulation but they are more practical than beautiful, I have only seen them used behind something else, like behind a Roman blind.
