Hi

First time posting but wondered if anyone can recommend a really comfortable sofa bed - I would like one that's comfortable to sleep on as well as lounge on. It will be used for guests to sleep on occasionally but used everyday for sitting/relaxing - I've seen the cocoon ones but they are a little out of my budget and I would prefer to actually try them but usual suspects like John Lewis/Furniture Village etc..don't seem to have them in the actual shops!!

I'm also looking for one and I have almost decided on the Emma one, because when you turn it into a bed, it can be a double or 2 single beds which will suit the combination of visitors that come to my house.

Ooh thanks - I hadn't thought of looking at Emma!!

Hi - just curious did you go for the Emma soft bed - I'm so close to ordering it but it's so frustrating that I can't find any reviews!!!

Actually yes I did order it but it hasn't come yet. I think it's pretty new to their line so that would account for the lack of reviews. There seems to be an Australian version of the Emma sofa bed, which I am sort of assuming is the same company and their reviews look quite good, although I've noticed a difference in the arms of the Australian Emma sofa bed when compared to the Emma UK sofa bed... or maybe it's a completely different company?

Anyway I ordered the grey version this week, although the oatmeal colour didn't look bad either. Let me know if you take the plunge! Oh I also messed around with promo codes and got an extra 5% off.

Hi! I was wondering if you tried the Emma sofa bed yet? I'm about to get a sofa bed for myself, and considering Emma one. Is it comfortable as a daily sofa? Is it firm, soft?
Thanks a lot!

Wondering if any update on this? Thank you!!

I now have the grey Emma sofa bed installed in my tv room. I like it but I don't love it.
Pros:

  • sturdy, likely to last years
  • 3 seater, pretty big (this could be a con, too though)
  • looks ok
  • can be 2 good sized singles or one double

cons:

  • quite hard to sit on
  • the mattresses were an absolute bugger to get into the zip up covers
  • takes up quite a lot of space in the room
  • funny smell which is only now beginning to fade

I don't exactly regret getting it, because it will probably last years, but it is not a thing of beauty. I remain pretty ambivalent about it really.

We have the ikea Vimle sofa bed. It's a big 2 seater. We use it daily as our sofa and every so often as a bed. It's comfy enough, although I wouldn't fancy sleeping on it for more than a few nights at a time.

Main downside is that it's heavy to move, and to open the bed out fully, we have to move it into a different spot in our living room.

Been using the sofa daily for 3.5 years. No complaints.

Thanks!! Is the bed comfortable?

barbarahunter · 17/02/2024 10:49

Yes, it is comfortable as a bed @arlequin

arlequin · 17/02/2024 10:50

Brilliant thank you

We've got one in the office which is comfortable and very solid. I wouldn't go for the type that has a bed frame but rather a z type that uses the structure of the sofa as the bedframe ifyswim. We have this one
