Kitchen counter chair (no bar area)

Is there any type of chair that would be suitable for a child to use sitting by the kitchen counter? There is no specific bar area, so for most stools there is the issue of having nowhere for the base to go without putting the child too far back. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

So there’s no overhang? I can’t think of anything ideal for that situation tbh, there would always be the issue of them sitting too far back. I guess they could have a stool that they straddle but that won’t be very comfortable. How old is the child?

No overhang, no. He's 5. I've searched.for every option I can think of.

The only thing I can think of is a high chair which has its own little table, which could butt up against the worktop. Some of the old fashioned wooden ones are big enough for a 5 year old. At 5 he may not love that idea though! And wouldn’t fit for long.

Thanks, I wouldn't like him to be trapped so he can't get out of a high chair and as you say it wouldn't fit for long. Maybe I need to get an extra counter-top that extends.

Thanks. We've decided to just reconfigure the kitchen as there wasn't any useful way to work round it.
