Shower area overlapping window ideas?

So. Listed property, can’t change windows and ludicrously small bathroom which is awkward to rearrange owing to chimney breast, wonky walls etc

currently only has bath (horizontally under window) but need to put over shower bath in (DH won’t hear of losing bath for just shower despite having approx 1 bath per decade 🤨)

need a solution for window covering.

and are those p shaped baths really naff?

Use good shower curtain on pole as window covering .. works for me!

You can get roller blinds made out of shower curtain type material for this type of set up.
We just ended up using vertical blinds due to ease of fitting. I’m sure the strings will rot through one day the way teen splashes about but the window sill area stays dry.

Shower curtain hoop?

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 27/05/2023 22:10

Thanks all, pondered shower curtain but weirdly wet shower curtain touching me gives me the willies 🤢, could poss go for the roller blind option though, unlikely to wrap itself round my legs 😂

We also have a very small bathroom with the shower right next to the window. We moved the door and that allowed us a much better bathroom layout, we now have the shower where the old door was. We did swap the bath for a shower only but both agreed on it.

Bare in mind that if you put a shower near the window, it’ll end up with water on the ledge all the time and that ended up a pain for us, you have to wipe it down a lot or it’ll end up mouldy.

Can you use window film? We have it on our en-suite door and it’s really effective.

EversoDisorganised · 27/05/2023 22:25

We have this, the window is at the end of the bath and the shower is midway along the long side. We have never been able to find blinds narrow enough for the window gap (it's less than a foot wide) so we have a piece of shower curtain cut to shape and attached to the lower half of the window as a little tiny cafe style curtain. It looks better than it sounds.

Window film? I've bought some, not used it yet as the bathroom is still being installed but it's got good reviews, from Purlfrost.

EversoDisorganised · 27/05/2023 22:27

Should add that the glass is frosted so fine in daytime, its when its dark and the lights are on that is the problem and I don't think window film would be sufficient.

Hmm why do you need a window covering? Our window recess is right in the middle of the long side of the bath and is fully tiled. I would hate to have a clinging curtain there. It’s really handy as you can put bottles on the sill like a wet room.

HairyKitty · 28/05/2023 06:49

Before this we had very cheap plastic horizontal blinds (can cut to fit) if it’s showering privacy you need.

Brumbies · 28/05/2023 07:09

We had this in a house we used to live in and put a shower screen on the window side. Worked a treat keeping water off the sill

I've got a window in my shower. I've got tinted glass in the window and the window sill was tiled with the tiniest of slopes, pretty much invisible to the eye, so water runs off but you can still put things on the sill without them falling off.

Because it’s literally looking out onto our drive, above the front door😂

Like the slope idea 👍 can’t change glass unfortunately as listed…

Be warned, I had this and hung two shower curtains both sides of the bath, friend told me years later that despite frosted glass she could see through when someone showering😳

Could you post a pic please 🙏
