Am i able to paint my electric box with white 'metal and wall' paint ? or does it need to be a specific type of paint ?

If you are writing about your external utility meter box I think these are made of plastic. In which case go to the local hardware/homeware & garden superstore and ask for a pot of something suitable for plastic coverage.
If it’s made of metal then it’s a metal paint you need. As above, ask an assistant for advice.
What you have to hand will probably be ok so why not test it on the inside of the door and see what it’s like.
If you use the wrong paint externally, it will get weathered and flake off.

Same applies if you are talking about your internal consumer box (where the fuses are). If you want to make a good job of it, take advice to avoid a poor finish.

There might be a video to help you on UTube?
Hope this helps.
