Velvet dining chairs - toddler

We really need new dining chairs and have found some reasonably priced velvet ones that I like. Is this a completely terrible idea with a toddler? Even if we scotchguarded them?

Yep, you’ll struggle to get squashed banana and yogurt out of them.

Put a washable elastic cover on the one your toddler uses?

We had velour type ones. Hit water and a good dose of the Vanish upholstery spray dealt with most things really well.
