How would you lay out this room?

Needs to fit a double bed (for occasional, not every day, use) and a desk for me to wfh a couple of days a week.

If I put the bed on the wall with the door, it comes right to the doorframe and blocks the light switch. The radiator us under the window so not sure if that would look odd? The other idea i had was having it lengthways along the window so the headboard is opposite the wardrobe? The wardrobe will just open, but it will be a squeeze.

Thoughts?

Get one of those single beds with another bed underneath that pulls out to make it a double, if it’s occasional use. Or have the door rehung so it opens the other way flat against the wall - feels a bit more spacious. Or take out the wardrobe/have a desk built in to the wardrobe and put the bed wherever.

Get a sofa bed or a day bed as pp said. Much better for space and people won’t be seeing a bed in the background of your video calls!

I have this one from M&S, it does come in a proper double size too - https://www.marksandspencer.com/logan-fold-out-sofa-bed/p/fhp60450918001?color=GREEN&prevPage=srp&Fabrics=21582783#intid=plpnav_pid_pg1pip39g2r4c1

This IKEA one is a popular day bed, you may well find it second hand on marketplace - https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/hemnes-day-bed-w-3-drawers-2-mattresses-white-asvang-firm-s09428106/

Thanks! Annoyingly we already have a bed we were hoping to keep, at least in the short term. Agree a sofa bed is probably the way to go eventually!

take the doors off the wardrobe and build your desk into the wardrobe - you can paint the inside a nice colour (or wallpaper it) and add a proper light and make it a nice little space. fix a blind to the top of the opening and then when you have visitors, you can pull the blind down to hide all the work related things.

then you can put a small double bed or one of the day-beds linked with the head of the bed on the same wall as the door.
