If you have a cream and oak kitchen

What colour are your walls/tiles/splashback?

We've decided on new kitchen units but not anything else and I don't know where to start! The kitchen is also attached to a large dining area so it is a big room to get wrong!

Photo shows the units (no navy island) but we'll have an oak worktop and our wooden flooring is a bit lighter than on this picture. We just have a lot of area between top and bottom units on both sides so I'm not sure if it will be a tile overload and we should just paint and use two splashbacks?

Also are these sort of patterned tiles outdated already?

Thank you!

We just used the same colour wood as the countertop. Extended it a few inches up the wall (similar to the photo with the navy island) for the splashback. I do like the tiles in your OP and I think with them being neutral they won't look outdated. I would go for the two tile splashback and paint.
