Looking for help identifying this wallpaper (pattern name/manufacturer). I know it's prob. discontinued so if anyone knows of something very similar I would also appreciate hearing. I'm showing both the main pattern and the companion paper. The image showing both papers is the actual color.

Can anyone identify this wallpaper please?

are you sure it's actual wall paper - from the image it looks like it might have been hand made with stencils?

vaguely (but not identical) similar one here:

It would probably be fairly easy to recreate with stencils or wall decals.

Was it the colour you liked particularly or the butterflies?

Googling reveals there are some horrific wallpapers with butterflies that would given anyone nightmares.https://www.happywall.com/en/butterflies-i-wallpaper/100/100

This is similar....

Thank you to all who responded. Unfortunately, I fear this paper is discontinued. I need to replace a section due to a water leak. It is not a stencil, definitely wallpaper. I know since I originally had it installed. Much nicer than the photos show, very high-end paper. Was hoping to replace with same.

Looking at the plugs, you're not in the UK.

LovesButterflies · 19/04/2023 15:57

I'm sorry, don't know what the "plugs" are? I am in the US

OP posts:
Saxendastarter · 19/04/2023 16:02

@LovesButterflies plugs = power outlets

LovesButterflies · 19/04/2023 16:05

I see, so is this site primarily for the UK? I'll close my question if so.

OP posts:
Saxendastarter · 19/04/2023 16:08

@LovesButterflies Not particularly, but people will most likely give you UK links to similar wallpaper etc ...

ReasonsToBeCheerfull · 19/04/2023 16:56

I know since I originally had it installed.

🙄

@LovesButterflies if you originally had it installed how can you not know what it is? You must have chosen it and paid for it....

That's truly bizarre.

This site isn't "primarily for the uk" and there are posters from all around the world - but the majority of posters are UK based.

LovesButterflies · 19/04/2023 17:26

haha, @ReasonsToBeCheerfull , I purchased this paper about 20 years ago, that's why!

Have you tried putting it through google lens? It is very effective at finding what you are looking for by searching with a photo.

ReasonsToBeCheerfull · 19/04/2023 17:53

Yes but still... I have 'a house file' of all stuff like that - paint names, numbers, colour of fence varnish, fabric numbers, place where I got it from and so on.

If you don't do this, it's a good idea going forward for exactly this reason. It's such a useful record - I've had so much use from it - finding matching paint, being able to track down reliable previous workmen to come to repair what they installed years ago.

I'd start with - where did you get it from? did you get it yourself or was it sourced via a decorator? you should be able to whittle it down to the manufacturer at least by elimination.

LovesButterflies · 19/04/2023 22:23

@ReasonsToBeCheerfull very helpful ideas. I do the same thing, I know when and where I bought the paper, just not the manufacturers name or pattern. I've also read the link you sent prior to opening this thread. Call me crazy, hope springs eternal that I'd find the paper in some long lost supply house. I believe the answer is sadly no.

OP posts:
ReasonsToBeCheerfull · 20/04/2023 12:02

You might do but you do need to know what you are looking for.
If you know where you bought it from have you tried asking them? If they don't know, they may be able to track down an ancient employee who worked there for 200 years and retired who would know.

Often experts in a field who have been working for 30 years+ can identify a manufacturer just from a look and feel.

Other thing to try is that sometime rolls of wallpaper have a label with the name/number on the back of them. If you steam the damaged stuff off carefully you might find it.

another idea is create some better images and do some reverse image searching. I did do a reverse sarch on yours posted but they aren't really good enough.

I'd do a couple one of a larger section of the pattern and one on a distinctive smaller place. You need to take the pictures at a time of day where there is good natural light so the photos are clear.

Yandex is very good for similar images. Tinyeye is better for identical images. Google lens I don't find very good personally.

LovesButterflies · 20/04/2023 15:21

@ReasonsToBeCheerfull you are truly trying to help and I appreciate it. Unfortunately, I've actually tried every suggestion you've given except steaming the paper off to look at the back. The shop where I bought the paper is under new ownership. Claim to not have old records and the people there don't recognize the pattern. I have reverse searched until my eyes bleed to no gain. I didn't save wallpaper names because who uses the same paper again? Just bad luck that I really like that paper in that room. If only some other paper I'd prefer to change were the issue!

Claim to not have old records and the people there don't recognize the pattern.

If you are really set on investigating it, you need to work a bit harder! I love stuff like this and do it for work so really enjoy it.

Lots of potential routes - I would track down the original business owners - you say it was sold but it was probably a company so you can find this from official records.

Next avenue like I said is finding someone who has worked in the trade for 30+ years - they just have nose for identifying products and manufacturers. If you are in the USA I don't know enough about wall paper to know whether you have state manufacturers or national manufacturers but there are probably trade organisations - they will have contacts who maybe able to help

Have you got better images that focus on the pattern that you can upload with better lighting?

Finally worst case scenario if you are really set on it, it would probably be quicker to get some of it off the wall, get it professionally scanned and have some made.

There a lots of places that custom make wallpaper these days from photographs and images.

ReasonsToBeCheerfull · 20/04/2023 16:33

one final thing - have you double checked any records you kept from when you had the decorating done because sometimes the numbers will be recorded on a receipt and almost always are on a quote.

But, even if you found it it would be a different batch number, and (in 20 years) it is likely that what you have go has faded.

LovesButterflies · 20/04/2023 17:16

yes to your comment about being faded. I was going to replace it all.

I'd just use google image like a few pp and find an update for it.
