Replacing cat scratched wallpaper - with what?

I somehow have the worlds most appealing wallpaper to cats, itโ€™s textured and my late cat and now new cat love sticking their nails in it ๐Ÿ˜…

New cat is just over 1 year and has spent many months in a shelter so still has some learning about home life to do.

its cheap b&q painted wallpaper, but I want to replace it , but I also donโ€™t want something thatโ€™s going to just encourage him to do it again ๐Ÿคฃ he doesnโ€™t touch the rest of the house ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

any ideas?

Just paint the wall rather than wallpaper?

And provide good scratching alternatives. A decent, sturdy scratching post. And also a scratching mat/rug. Some cats like to mix it up between horizontal and vertical scratching.

Yes just paint it? Also you can make or buy cat scratching corners for furniture and walls to add to areas they scratch.
