How many oven shelves did your new cooker have?

Sorry if this is not entirely the correct thread. I couldn’t find anything closer.

Just the question above really. I bought a new cooker online which was delivered today, and I was fairly surprised that it only has one oven shelf.

I definitely should have checked the full spec, but I think this is only the second new cooker I have ever bought, and it just didn’t occur to me that they didn’t come with at least 2 shelves.

I thought the best course of action was to buy an additional one, but I can’t find an identical item.

I have been in various conversations with Curry’s who sold the item, and they would accept a return, which seems so extreme. Apart from giving a link to Partmaster they can’t help me to source an additional shelf, even though Logik appliances are made for them.

Just wondering if I am completely out of touch expecting a cooker to come with sufficient shelves to bake cakes or do a roast dinner?

Mine came with just 1 so I bought a second oven shelf on Amazon. It's been fine.

We've had this. I assumed they came with two.

One came with one, the second for a different property came with three.

One shelf and a grill pan which doubles as the second shelf. I was a little surprised. And even more surprised to discover that to buy an additional shelf from the manufacturer would be £80!

You can buy unbranded shelves that adjust to fit any width and they are much cheaper than the branded ones.

I agree though, it does seem ridiculous.

Mine had one shelf plus the grill pan that also functions as a shelf. I kept the shelves from the old oven, they don't fit perfectly but they work well enough.

Ours only had 1 too.

Thank you to everyone who has replied. Seems I am a bit out of date expecting more than one. I can get a cheaper generic one which I think will fit, but I am retired now and this may be my last new cooker, and I was hoping for it to be close to perfect. Maybe I’ll get to buy another new one in my 70’s and hope to remember to check the number of shelves 😀

When we moved into our house, we inherited an ancient cooker with four shelves in the main oven. That was excellent. Quite a shock when we re-did the kitchen and got a new cooker to find it only came with two shelves! We had to replace that cooker last year and I did remember to check the spec. Managed to get one with two shelves and we still have the two adjustable ones I bought from Scott's of Stow years and years ago. No serious cook could manage with just one shelf. What are they thinking of? It can't be all that expensive to provide enough shelves.

We clearly struck lucky - we've got a John Lewis cooker with a top and bottom oven. The bottom one came with two, and the top with one plus a grill pan, so that gives us a total of 4 to play with. Which we do.....

We have just bought a super super cheap oven to tide us over until we can get the kitchen done, and it came with 3 shelves!!! I was very pleasantly surprised.

5 shelves came with ours but we bought a couple of extra which have been useful for eg pizza for 20 when our children have had parties here,
