I know F&B has been done to death but bear with - a true dark navy

We have a little spare bedroom ( 3 bed house ) and Dh has just retired so "his room" - I agree with this. Bike on a stand - IKEA Hemnes bed for visitors - it works as a multipurpose room.

Can anyone tell me what they think is the truest navy blue . The room ( although small has two windows - so a lot of natural light. )

I'm not that fussed about it being F&B I just want a really proper dark navy blue without any hint of green or grey. I know it is fashionable but I don't mind about that - this is a small room so easily painted over if needs be & it will go with the blinds ( which I am not so keen to replace. ) Not been decorated for 10 years and it is slipper Satin at the moment - I think this could be my way of testing out bolder colours .

Ha ha yes, FWB Stiffy is a completely different kettle of fish to F&B Stiffkey Grin

That was to @Notamum12345577 !

Good point

Best not to get them confused. 😁

In ym house, F&B Stiffkey Blue is dusky blue, and Hague Blue has a distinct teal tone, I wouldn't say either are true navy.

Stiffkey is a beautiful blue. It's not as dark as a true navy (although personally I cannot see the appeal of room that is literally navy?! Sounds quite harsh?) but it is a gorgeous soft, slightly greyish dark blue with absolutely no green undertones. Hauge blue is darker but definitely has green undertones.

@rbe78 and @pastaandpesto Thank you both. This room is so small that by the time I have a mirror and some pictures up there isn't that much wall paint ( which works both ways I realise ) . I will definitely get a tester of stiffkey - I just wanted a really true dark blue but not at all teal - so thank you both I might eliminate Hague blue ( & I know it will look beautiful in some people's houses I know that ) but I just don't want the green undertones. ( Happy to have anyone tell me other choices in my other rooms they would not have - it's a personal thing. A friend of mine has a sitting room painted in an earthy red colour - it looks fabulous , it does , but not for me every day. Each to their own I say. ) 😊

Have a look at this, I have it in Ds room and it's what I would class as a true navy. I have Dulux sapphire salute in my dining room and it's definitely more of a royal blue.

Midnight Sapphire
Midnight Sapphire is a dark navy blue with black

Try Little Greene dock blue or Royal Navy. LG colours tend to be a bit cleaner/fresher and less earthy than F&B

I agree with PP's suggestion of plimsoll by paint and paper library. I spent ages looking for the exact same true dark navy that didn't lean green or purple. Plimsoll was the best I found.

Thank you all

Dh is going on a mission to get testers - I reckon he can get F&B Stiffkey and Haguea nd Dulux colours & may be Johnstones - the others I may have to order - So Papers and Paints etc.

But we will see what he comes back with this afternoon.

I will report back ( it may not be today but when we have done some testers )

Thank you all again
