What colour curtains with green wall?

I'm having trouble deciding and I'd love some input, please! I'm about to redecorate a bedroom/home office space and can't decide on curtains...

I'm thinking of painting one wall of original panelling with Valspar Benjamin's Buttons which I'd describe as a mid sage colour.

The other walls are already an off-white with a hint of blue-grey (I tinted basic white paint with some Dulux Quartz Flint). The window that I need to dress sits in one of the off-white walls and will be next to the green feature wall.

I quite like the idea of white curtains (there's already a white fabric blind in the recess of the window), but I'm also flirting with the idea of these seafoam curtains or these natural linen/ecru curtains.

The curtain pole and bed frame are off-white (most bedding is also white), desk is natural oak and carpet is standard 'boring beige'.

I love the linen ones, just be aware they sell those ones as single curtains rather than pairs.

The paint colour is gorgeous.

Thank you! Most of my house is decorated in pale neutrals and the occasional splash of duck egg or blue, so I'm enjoying the prospect of something new, even if it is a fairly safe/calming green...

Thanks also for the tip re the curtains - I had thankfully already clocked that (not sure why they're selling those as singles when most of their curtains are sold as pairs, though 🙄).

I'm definitely leaning more towards white or 'natural' coloured... I think the sea foam might be too 'matchy'?

I have a green and taupe room, slightly different colours than yours but I chose curtains that are like the ecru but with a pattern. You can't get them any more but I've attached a photo from Google. I liked that they were predominantly a plain colour but the colours tied in all the green in the room.

The linen ones are beautiful and will match pretty much any colour should you redecorate differently in the future .

KeeperSweeper · 25/03/2023 08:20

I think it's fashionable to put that colour with blush pink. But personally I would match the colour to the curtains, as it would look excellent. However that would make the room darker than if you chose pink, terracotta or ecru.

KeeperSweeper · 25/03/2023 08:21

I think either of your options would look great, although I think I would opt for heavier fabric if going green, so from your options I would choose ecru.

Our sitting room is a mid sage - I think the sea foam curtains would be the wrong tone. The linen would be very calming and give a bit of texture.

I think the linen ones are awful. I’m really surprised anyone likes them and I’d wonder st the age range of anyone who does. Personally I’d do a a darker green and give the room some contrast

Our bedroom is a pale green F&B Cromarty www.farrow-ball.com/paint-colours/cromarty

I have completely plain natural cream linen/cotton mix curtains that are soft and little bit crumpled. They are lined though, not sheer.

And blush pink linen duvet cover. It looks gorgeous altogether, with a few deep teal and green accents.

I'm afraid I'm not keen on either of your options @Poppins2016 and imho the seafoam doesn't work. I think you need something more substantial in either ecru with a pattern (shame those that @PedroPascal has are no longer available as they are pretty) or something darker with more of a contrast to your chosen wall colour.

We have two green rooms - although both are considerably darker than yours - and we have dark green damask velvet (vintage from ebay) in the Little Greene sage bedroom, whilst at the dining end of our F&B olive living room I made curtains using an ecru Voyage fabric with colourful seed pod pattern. The colours of the latter pick up on the rug/accessories we have in the room as well as the olive walls.

Thanks all.

I do love Voyage Maison fabrics. I was originally thinking of something with a floral/leaf print that would compliment the green, but couldn't find anything I liked (for some reason I hadn't considered Voyage fabrics). I was originally visualising a fern print or similar.

I was trying to keep costs down a little (we're thinking of putting our house on the market so I didn't want to spend loads on something we may not use for long), but maybe I should consider it... The Country Hedgerow fabric (in 'Sky') appeals to me... might have to adjust/check it against the green paint choice, though (at least we haven't bought anything yet)!

Here's a pic of our Voyage Maison fabric (Sutami Summer Linen in ecru). For some reason (lighting I think) our olive walls look less earthy in this pic - in real life they match better with the green in the fabric.

Sometimes voyage maison outlet online has nice ready made Voyage curtains if thats what youre looking for - theyre likely to be more in budget than mtm.
