Dark skirting black next to charcoal

I've painted my staircase black and white and now want to paint the rest of my skirting dark. I prefer a charcoal (like F&B down pipe) but my stairs are true black (Rustoleum Matt black). Would it be too weird to have them next to each other? So the matt black on the stairs only then the down pipe running along the skirting next to it? I don't want to repaint my stairs but also don't want the black on all the skirting. See arrows for where I'd like the down pipe .

Have you got a tester pot? I'd be tempted to paint it and see how it looks where the colour changes. Depending on the light it might not be too obvious.

I know its a bit of a faff but i would as Precipitate says get a tester pot but paint a couple pieces of white card and put next to the skirting. Might take a bit more time but you can then stand back and move them around to 'test" the area to if you like?
