Bedding - sheet same colour as duvet or contrast?

Exactly that, really. I have a new duvet cover I like and I'm not sure what colour to go for for the sheet and bottom pillow cases.

It's a dark-ish blue with plants/berries on it (red, brown, green, white).

I was thinking of matching the green for a nice contrast, but sometimes I think that only works when the room is super tidy and presentable, as otherwise the contrast can look messy and cluttered.

Boring topic, perhaps! Does anyone have any views on this?

I go for sheets matching!

Usually contrasting but toning sheet and bottom pillow cases here.

All my fitted sheets are white but then I am weird about dark coloured bedding in general and most of my stuff is white or very pale colours.

Contrasting all the way

My duvet cover and top pillow cases are the same, but the fitted sheet and bottom pillow cases are two different colours, both in contrast to the top pillow cases and duvet, and with each other. I prefer a mix. I don't like matchy matchy.

I pick out a different colour that’s in the pattern, to co-ordinate and contrast. So two pillows and the sheet in one colour, toning with the duvet and two more pillows.
