Looking for a piece of art work (probably a print given my budget) for a study

I have no idea where to look, other than John Lewis/Whitewall Galleries, etc

Needs to be large (c. 100cm by 100cm) and contemporary. Love vintage travel prints and bright colours

Budget is up to £500, but would rather not spend that much!

Where should I look? Any recommended websites?

ArtFinder?
Or have a mooch around any local galleries, see what you like & try & find similar?
Or look for a local art fair?

CrystalMaisie · 16/03/2023 18:35

Lots of affordable artists on Instagram.

I bought a few paintings on Artfinder. And I had a couple commissioned through an artist I really liked.
They have prints also. Loads of stuff on there, I'm sure you'll find something you like there.

EBay is worth a look. Lots of vintage art gallery posters, also original artwork but you do have to wade through lots of art of doubtful merit complete crap and forged Lowries if you are looking for original paintings.

EBay, Amazon,Wayfair.

hennybeans · 16/03/2023 18:44

King and McGaw, I think that’s the name. They have loads of prints ranging from original vintage posters to expensive art prints to mid price prints.

Snozwanger · 16/03/2023 18:52

King & McGaw or Artze for cheaper prints.

The Saatchiart website lets you buy affordable print or canvas-printed versions of original works (and of course original works).

www.saatchiart.com

I tend to want to support women artists and have bought print versions & a couple of originals from this feminist artist www.saatchiart.com/fabiennejacquet

and also a few abstracts from other artists (just do a search of the site for what you are looking for in term of themes and it will come up with various works/artists).

No issue with delivery or quality of print :).

Eames Gallery specialize in printmaking. As do Greenwich printmakers.

this style of artwork tends to be cheaper than a one off watercolor or oil.

i’m building up quite a collection and I think some of the stuff I initially bought has really appreciated.

i’ve never spent more than £600.

Jeschara · 19/03/2023 19:37

The Gallery is good.
