Velvet sofa and velvet curtains

Is it too much velvet?

Already have a navy velvet sofa and want to buy a velvet wingback chair (in a complementary colour, not matching)

Had curtains made of a patterned wool fabric in my old house but can't find any similar fabric I like now. If I can't find anything I'd probably want velvet curtains in a plain colour (likely a pale beige-grey). Is that too much velvet? Feels like it might be a bit one-dimensional?
Will have a patterned rug and some cushions with other textures.

Other option is to get the chair in a tweed fabric but its a bit scratchy and the colourway I like is quite pale so likely to show dirt.

I’ve got a velvet sofa & am also thinking of getting velvet curtains. I’ve got light linen ones at the moment which are lovely in summer but not cosy or heavy enough for winter. I will get something that compliments the sofa colour (grey) rather than a strong contrast. Then have a different coloured rug.

Id love a velvet sofa, but how well do they wear?

It would be too much for me but I am very keen on varying textures in a room.

How about a heavy silk dupion (real or faux) or a slubby linen for the curtains?

Our velvet sofa is wearing well so far (it's 2.5 years old)

I don't think silk would look right in the room, it's an old cottage with beams. (And I'd ideally like to make them myself as I haven't seen much I like that's affordable in the shops, but I'm not confident sewing silk!)

Linen would work, I'm just not sure I find it very interesting... the colours generally don't have the same depth to them
