I really like anthropologie but my best curtains were hand made!

All of mine are from either dunelm or next, but it depends what style you think are nice. Mine are quite modern and simple, I don't like fussy patterned curtains

I get curtains and cushions made by a small local business.

Depends on budget really, nice curtains are handmade and bespoke but are an investment.

I went to Marrakesh to buy rugs. Filled a suitcase.

We have had decent curtains and rugs from Next.

Dunelm are on my boycott list. We paid a lot for made to measure curtains including measuring and fitting but they don’t fit and they are appalling quality. And this is the second pair! They remade them once!

Ebay...

I believe I should be able to make curtains. I can't, but the fact distresses me so I only buy them second hand. This all makes total sense to me.

I get all our curtains made by either John Lewis or made by two local businesses near me.

I’ve had all our curtains and blinds made. Most by a local seamstress but then she retired, I got some from Yorkshire fabric shop made to measure which are really nice. Also house of Hackney, and some from H&M that I got professionally hemmed and lined.

Rugs I buy vintage / antique from auction houses.

George at Asda does surprisingly good rugs.

I love my curtains from Next. My only regret is that I didn't buy them years ago.

Mummyof287 · 07/03/2023 20:22

Dunelm for both!

La Redoute

I mainly make our curtains - most recently I purchased some velvet fabric from Timorous Beasties but I've also used Voyage and Villa Nova fabrics which are nice quality. We do also have some fabulous vintage GP & J Baker velvet curtains that I found on ebay a few years back.

Our best rugs are from Liberty (a splurge when I received an inheritance a few years ago), eBay and a huge antique Persian one we got from a rug shop in Marlow. We've also bought cheaper rugs (under £500) from irugs which aren't bad for the price.

Since marrying in the late 80s I've always bought fabric and made my own (simple) or had them made (more complicated) but I recently bought some Dunelm Natural History museum lined curtains for our extension and they make me smile whenever I see them. They make me so happy.
Recent rugs from ruggable, John Lewis and irugs.
