Mould in mums flat

I urgently need to find a company that can remove and treat large areas of mould in my mums flat. I would also need areas to be repainted as I won’t be able to do.

I had not visited her for a while so was unaware of it. She kept it to her self. It’s currently covering large areas of ceilings in all 3 bedrooms and bathroom.

Can anyone help?

Does she know what the source of the damp is? It might be best to deal with the source of the damp before treating it, especially if it is caused by a leak. Is there any mould on the walls, perhaps behind furniture? We can get condensation damp in our house and I tend to find it behind furniture on cold walls as well as bathroom/ shower room ceilings. If the mould is only on ceilings and not elsewhere I wonder if it could be caused by a leak rather than condensation?

I agree that it would be best to check for roof leaks first. A roofer could do this for you but be sure to get one who’s recommended locally so you won’t be ripped off.

Then install dehumidifiers to get rid of the condensation. Move furniture away from walls and have heating on a few hours daily.

While the dehumidifiers are doing their work, contact decorators and get advice/estimates. Your mum may have to keep using the dehumidifiers regularly.

If it is from condensation you could also consider fitting a piv system.
