What can I do about this mirror

I live in a rental property, this mirror is not coming off the wall for love nor money (neither is the ugly shaving light). What can I do to make the mirror look better, bonus points if you can think what to do about the light too! (Ignore the patchy walls, i’m not done painting yet).

Maybe a nice tallish leafy plant on the shelf to soften things a bit?

Can you get a photo frame in a style you like and put it around the mirror? That might make it look a bit nicer!

I had a light like that in a rental - I bought some wood beading type bits from b&q, cut it so it sort of sat over the light in front and to the side and stuck in on the wall! It let light out the top / bottom and looked ten times nicer. Similar to this but in wood!

If you can't get the mirror off the wall how about keeping mirror but changing light - lots of reasonable priced ones on amazon, go for something sleek ,a bit art -deco to match the clean lines of the mirror and as someone else said a lush leafy plant .

I would frame it.
If handy or know anyone that is would potentially find a way of boxing in the light and making it in to some sort of shelf?
Ikea have strip lights you could add to it for more focused light if needed?
