Grey kitchen cupboards with mustard or yellow walls? Opinions please?

So we've been in our house years and the kitchen must be 15/20 years old. We are doing a wrap around conversion in a couple of years so just doing a few cheap bits at the moment to make it a bit nicer foenthe next few years. We were away this week so asked our local painter to paint the kitchen cupboards grey. It's the rustoleum slate grey cupboard paint. Just got home and he's done a great job and I'm really happy with it. However the rest of the kitchen is pale grey and it all just looks a bit grey! Also have 20 year old orange and mustard tiles so thinking what about painting the walls mustard. It's a small kitchen about 10 x8 so actually not that much wall as lots of cupboards windows. So anyone gone with a mustard or orange kitchen even with grey cupboards. Pics appreciated

So update! We are going to go for it. Off to b&q this weekend to grab some samples. Want a slightly mustard yellow.

I'm going with its a relatively small area that will be painted so if I really hate then can just paint again

I love bright colours so think I will like it

Can you remember what colour/paint that is? Could save me alot of time with testers thanks

I grew up with a bright yellow kitchen ('70s/'80s) and hated it....but that was the cabinets, not walls - which were white - so a bit different to your situation @Deedippy My mum refused to change it till the mid 1980s because her carpenter/joiner brother had built the cabinets himself 🙄

However, i do love a bit of yellow - we painted our hall yellow and grey in the '90s so your proposed combo reminds me of that somewhat. I loved it at the time but as we were ahead of the curve with grey, we've never embraced it the most recent time around.

That said, I do love a yellow room and plan to paint our porch in either India Yellow or Yellow Pink when it's built. At our last house we painted the larger reception room India Yellow and loved it. DS has recently painted his family room bright yellow too.

I'm surprised that I really like the grey/yellow kitchen posted above by @Irisheyesareshining and I think that if you've got a vision and love the idea, it's definitely right to go for it...hope you come back and share pics when it's done @Deedippy!

@Deedippy F&B's mustard yellow is Indian Yellow.
