Wipe clean sofa that isn't expensive leather?

I need to buy a large corner sofa that isn't fabric or expensive leather. My 8yo autistic son does not understand not tipping food and drink on the sofa or even (sobs) the odd wee accident. The sofa.com fabric sofa we have is utterly destroyed but I've resisted getting a new one because he'll only trash that too, but it's got to the point where we have to. He doesn't mean to, it's not malicious, he just doesn't notice he's damaging things. And yes I've tried training him not to eat or drink on the sofa but if I leave the room he's straight back. For reference elder dc not allowed to eat on sofas and do not.

Just can't work out what material to go for. Worried faux pleather will look horrible but don't dare try leather and certainly not fabric again.

Any ideas very welcome.

I bought an Ikea Nockeby sofa second hand then bought faux leather covers from Etsy for about £250. They are an aged tan colour, are a bit plasticky but everything wipes off.

Im similar to you where my son eats on the sofa and also have a dog so needed something easily cleanable.

I’d imagine a cheap wipe clean sofa would be a bit sweaty and unpleasant to sit on - sorry!

Could you look for one with removable and washable covers, and use washable throws on it, instead?

I think modern pleather is more convincing and better quality now they've rebranded it as 'vegan leather'. Unfortunately, I think the rebrand has pushed the price up a bit too. I'd go and have a look at some in a showroom, you know what's likely to be tough enough or not. Or else how about a good quality, real leather sofa but second hand? Make sure its proper leather though and not the cheap 'bonded' stuff.

I've tried all kinds of covers but he's quite insistently destructive so I was removing and washing the covers and throws daily, I even bought a vax spot cleaner but just ended up with daily damp sofa cushions.

Like the idea of an ikea sofa, maybe I just assume I'll be replacing it every other year or so. So wasteful I know but can't live with this grim sofa situation for ever.

This is the leather we have, they make them for most Ikea sofas with removable covers.

We’ve had ours 2 years and it looks the same as when it first arrived.

I recomend the SCS-'COUNTY' range. Material is kind of in between suede and leather. Not sweaty or sticky but warm and wipeable. Its also well made and sturdy. Range of colours and they do a corner suite.

Our Snug sofa can stand a good scrub. It's surviving two kids and multiple pets so far!
